Why and How We Endorse Candidates
Friends of Little Cottonwood Canyon (FoLCC) exists to oppose UDOT’s gondola plan and promote fiscally responsible, common-sense solutions to canyon congestion. As a single-issue advocacy group, we unapologetically vet and support candidates who share and demonstrate our commitment to accountability, transparency, and responsible use of public funds.
When endorsing, we look for candidates who have clearly opposed the gondola via public and private statements, in their responses to our election questionnaires, and in campaign materials and messaging. We also examine their campaign funding sources and political endorsements for ties to pro-gondola interests. For incumbents or past officeholders, we research and evaluate voting history and initiative taken on the LCC congestion and gondola issues while in office.
If a candidate claims to have changed their position on the gondola, we examine when and why that shift occurred, what evidence supports this new position, and what commitments they are making now and for the future. In some cases, this evaluation may lead us to endorse a challenger who may more reliably reflect FoLCC’s objectives.
In the list of FoLCC-endorsed candidates below, we have provided a link to their full responses to our gondola survey.
If you have any questions or concerns about who Friends of Little Cottonwood Canyon endorses, please reach out to us at contact@lccfriends.org
Please note we do not fund political campaigns or candidates and no candidate including those we endorse has paid for or is affiliated with our candidate endorsements.
